10 Ways to Waste Time on the Internet

I believe, it’s not really a waste of time, but the following make up usually my online daily routine:

1. Check my yahoo mail and gmail accounts. As OC as I am, I usually browse through my spam folder containing varied topics: insurance, work at home jobs, fat burners and slimming pills, etc and filter the interesting from the nonsense ones
2. Read blog feeds through Google Reader
3. Get updated with friends’ and contacts’ wall posts in Facebook
4. Read parenting topics in the Girl Talk forum
5. Update my three blogs that are hosted on Blogger
6. Updated my six other blogs that are self-hosted
7. Check sites that have got to do with my online works for assignments and opportunities
9. Watch interesting Youtube videos
9. Browse and comment on new Flickr uploads from friends
10. Twitter all day long!

Two New Projects.

I feel so productive today work wise because finally, I was able to launch my newest project (a.k.a. new domain). It’s been a month since I purchased it and it’s only that I finished setting it up. Online tasks heavily poured the same week that I bought it so I didn’t have the chance to work on it in full blast. So shall I see you in my food blog soon?

There’s one more domain coming up but I can’t guarantee yet when it will go live. Curious what will it be about? Well, you’ll be seeing there home inspirations like bedrooms, home stuffs like faucet styles, etc. Got the picture? For the mean time, I can start listing down my topic outline for my very first set of entries.

A Food Blog..Soon!

I slept late last night because I’ve started working [finally] on my newest online niche…that is, a food blog. It’s been about a month already since I purchased its “interesting” domain but tons of tasks poured my way in the past two weeks that I had to defer working on it. Last week, a good friend helped me migrate the hosting to hers and installed wordpress as its platform. Then just last night, I finally began dressing it up. Have started posting a lot of food-related stuffs there including diet pills because as common to many, food is synonymous to such. Or it could also be more of a cause and effect thing, like excessive food is equal to diet pills intake. Anyway, I’m still tweaking the site a little bit and perhaps within this week, I’m going to unveil my newest online niche. See you there!

More and more people are getting interested to blog. Blogs are just one of the many interesting ways and means in the internet to express oneself. For most, it becomes a hobby but aside from that, it can also be used as an effective marketing tool to promote a business or get a strong agenda across such in the case of political blogs. So aside from the contents or the articles to publish, the following are the other things to consider in setting up a blog:

1. Choose a good domain. As much as possible go for one that is short but striking and provides a preview what your blog is all about.
2. Carefully compare then select website hosting providers. Read reviews about their host reliability, uptime, key features, bonus features, customer support, past and current user feedbacks, user-friendliness and hosting awards and a lot more. On Authoring Several Blogs.

Recently, one blogger and fellow participant in a weekly mommy meme asked me out of the blue why do I maintain several blogs when in fact, I can just have one. Honestly, I felt a little sarcasm in her question and I know she’s pointing out something else here. So to answer her question, I have about a number of blogs because primarily, blogging is my bread and butter while being a SAHM. Just like the basic principle of business goes, the more capital that you have and the more you invest, the greater return of profits you will have. Well, I’m not saying that I’m blogging purely for money because despite these business-related posts, I have 2 niche blogs where I house most of my personal posts. I have been blogging for four years now and there were so much good things I’ve stumbled along the way – online friends turned in real life friends mostly.

Another reason why I have to expand domains is because, as much as possible, I avoid having a hodge podge blog. Meaning, they are put up with different themes and approach. I have a personal blog, a mommy blog, a scrap blog, a photography blog, a wedding blog and a blog which I call a “tactless”, straightforward blog. One blog will never be enough for my boisterous online life.

Maintaining several blogs can really be a handful and if I may add, expensive. Renewals of domains and the web hosts services are among the things that you have to look at. Most importantly, you have to exert tremendous effort and time to update religiously and come up with quality posts to attract readership. But despite these, blogging isn’t really all hardships, as long as you put your heart into it, happiness and enjoyment come after.

Extremely Busy.

I passed up on joining several photo prompts last week. I bet you noticed that. I would have loved to keep my blog updated with my entries but it’s just that I didn’t have the spare time to do so. My work tray is overflowing that i have to keep a few of my weekly routines at bay temporarily. In fact, I have even long scheduled that I’ll do some closet cleaning this weekend but I wasn’t able to finish my assignments last Friday so my stuffs have to wait for another week. It’s been a while since I last organized my closet and I bet dusts have feasted already on them. I’ll be doing some spring cleaning to declutter the stuffs I no longer use. Just briefly scanned my shoe rack and there are about a couple of pairs (no, not my Dansko Natalie as I still love wearing it to bits) that have been useless. Perhaps, the husband will give me the go signal to shop for new ones because of the space that will be emptied. Haha!

No Distractions.

I am deeply controlling my EQ right at this very moment. A part of me is itching to play and nail hard my scores and standing at Facebook’s Bejewelled Blitz’s and Typing Maniac’s game score boards but I have to finish some blogging tasks first. That’s where I’m failing lately…I easily give in to distractions that priorities are set aside completely.

So there, no more open Facebook tab on my Firefox….hope that would help me go through my tasks effectively.

I’m Peeved When…

1. someone can’t take a cue that I don’t want to talk to him/her.
2. someone snaps at the middle of my nearing-the-climax story.
3. spam comments get through my blog.
4. someone plays as an all-knowing individual.
5. my internet acts up and I have lots of tasks on queue.

Those are the five things that peeves me at the moment and I am most affected by the last one. My internet connection has been intermittent in the last 30 minutes and I’m so totally annoyed.
