My Easter Holiday Recipe
As Easter is just around the corner, I bet it’s not only the kids who are excited about the Easter basket treats they’ll be receiving or the egg-hunting activity that they’d be busy with on Sunday. Moms are equally looking forward to this day as there will be another cooking battle in the kitchen to serve Easter menu delights that the family can feast on all together. So time to dig in to your stashed Holiday Recipes and start listing down the ingredients to shop in the grocery.
As for me, I didn’t have a hard time thinking what to serve for our Easter dinner. It’s the husband who is craving badly for my Special Carbonara which has become a Holiday staple in our family. My two year old son loves it to bits. But since Easter is a celebration of rebirth, I’m thinking of deviating a little from my recipe and add a twist in the recipe. Let me share to your first the “original” recipe of my Special Carbonara:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 Onion – chopped
1 whole Garlic – chopped
Mushroom (1 can, sliced)
Beef cubes (1 box)
Nestle cream (1 can)
Cream of mushroom (1 can, campbell’s)
Evaporada Milk (1 can, alpine)
Cheese (1 box, grated)
Fetuccini/tricolor (spiral) pasta
Bacon or crispy fried Maling or luncheon meat
Butter
Procedure:
1. saute garlic and onion in butter
2. add on the mushroom
3. beef cubes
4. add on the cream of mushroom
5. stir constantly, under low fire
6. add: nestle cream and evaporated milk
7. add the grated cheese with continuous mixing
8. boil the pasta (put butter to prevent pasta from sticking)
9. fry bacon w/o oil (til crunchy)
serving: top on the bacon or you can mix it with the sauce
I’m not sure what the outcome will be like but I think, adding tuna flakes will further enhance the salty and buttery taste of the cream. Aside from being an enhancer, it’ll also make it a more hearty meal because tunas are good source of omega oil which is good for the heart.
I’ll update you how our Easter dinner feast will be like.
