No More Typhoon
So it was not as bad as expected and predicted..in the city at least. There may be reported deaths in the Visayas region but thank God, the metropolis hardly felt the typhoon’s strength. The Department of Education even suspended yesterday’s classes in school the night before but I think it just poured a so-so amount of rains at dawn then early morning, the sun was already peeking. Well, we can’t do much about it because indeed, the weather is unpredictable despite we all have this atmospheric technology. Leaving in a tropical country has got us used to dealing with heavy rains (and floods). However, the global warming makes us all quite alarmed because of the weird weather patterns it’s bringing about lately. The summer and rainy seasons are changing abruptly. It can become so sweltering hot one day then the next day, heavy rains pour. No wonder a lot have been getting sick lately.
Speaking of rains, I think it’s about time that farmers and gardeners realize the importance of having rain water barrels in their farms and gardens. Rain barrels or also called rainwater tanks are containers used for collecting and maintaining harvested rain for later use. It reduces main water use for economic or environmental reasons. Stored rainwater in rain barrels may be used for watering gardens, agriculture, flushing toilets, in washing machines, washing cars, and sometimes when treated properly, also for drinking. Rain harvesting is important, especially for farmers in our country and given with unpredictable weather, so that they can have something to sustain their plants come drought season.
