First Day High.
Another school year has started and for my nephew, Miggy, who’s a grade school first timer, the first week so far has been great. So far, no suspension of classes news yet on their school unlike the others who decided to halt for the mean time or for some, postponed the school opening because of the A(H1N1) pandemic flu spreading like crazy in the metro. My nephew’s school, however, is on the lookout and observing extreme precaution for possible flu case on one of their students. When that happens, then poor Miggy, his excitement has to be curtailed for the mean time as automatically, their classes will also be suspended. This is done to sanitize the whole school completely – classrooms, cafeterias and even the School Lockers area where the students may have physical contact with the infected person. More importantly, to prevent the flu from spreading further among the school community.
As I was saying, my nephew enjoyed so far his first week as a first grader. He was brave enough to find his classroom (which is at the far end of the Lockers hallway) all by himself on the first day. His bag was heavy with textbooks but good thing he left half of it inside his Wood Locker so he doesn’t have to bring to and from the school everyday. He listened attentively to his teachers and he said that he has already memorized the names most of his classmates. I asked what’s his favorite subject and for now, he says, it’s Physical Education where they get to play ball games.
